ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
Unfortunately due to a rise in anti-social behaviour the last few months, the Sunbury Basketball Association has implemented a new Zero Tolerance Policy.
Please read and familiarise yourself with the new policy.

Return to sport
The Victorian Government, on advice from the Department of Health, has further eased restrictions from the circuit-breaker lockdown for Greater Melbourne and Regional Victoria, with these measures starting from Thursday 10 June at 11.59pm.
Unfortunately, there is some confusion with the detail of the restrictions released today, specifically for community indoor sport in Regional Victoria.
We have been in close communication with Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) and what we do know is:
Metropolitan Melbourne: unfortunately, there is no indoor sport until the next announcement for easing restrictions. Organised outdoor community sport is permitted for children (those who wish to commit to outdoor games for ages 18 and under), with adults restricted to training only. Outdoor activity is restricted to a maximum of 10 people per group. Density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm applies.
Regional Victoria: is open for all ages training and competition, however we need further clarity on the number allowed indoors for each venue.
We will be receiving detailed “Restricted Activity Directions” overnight and will provide a further update tomorrow.

Happy National Volunteers Week!
Monday 17th May – Sunday 23rd May 2021
is National Volunteer Week
It celebrates all the volunteers in Australia and the quiet work they achieve.
Without them, the players would be unable to enjoy competition on the courts and develop skills in the game of basketball and life.
Take a moment to say “THANKS” to the basketball volunteers around you.
Here at Rupertswood Basketball Club, some of our volunteers include:
* Coaches *
* Team Managers *
* Scorers *
* Court Duty volunteers at Boardman Stadium *
* the Fundraisers *
* the families & friends who drop off and pick up players for training and games *
* Biosecurity Officers at Lakeside Stadium who ask that you “sign and sanitize” *
* and the members of your Rupertswood Basketball Committee *

All games will be played on Saturday’s from now on including the Under 19’s.
At this stage, games are open for friends and family to attend but I believe you have to wear a mask and venues are capped (Boardman is around 1000 capacity).

U19’s games for new Winter 2021 season
Message from the SBA:
We have had a lot of teams that have been entered for the new season and we are over capacity for our Saturdays with Killara, Kismet & Sunbury Downs out of action prior to Christmas. As expected, we are going to need to play our U19’s on a Wednesday night for the 2 rounds prior to Christmas.
The Clubs all voted for the first two rounds to be played as follows:
Grading round 1 on the 9th of December
Grading round 2 on the 16th of December
There are no game times as yet so stay tuned for when the information comes to hand.
Basketball Victoria licence (insurance)
(1) Basketball Licence
All players, team managers and coaches who wish to participate in the upcoming Winter 2021 season that commences on 12th December 2020 MUST have a Basketball Victoria Licence as this covers your insurance during games and training sessions. You will not be able to take the court unless you have an active licence. This licence is available through the Play HQ website (see link below).
When you purchase your licence, it will be valid for 365 days from that date. If you have already purchased your licence during this year, it will automatically expire in December 2021 regardless of what date it was purchased this year.
(2) Nominating to participate in new Junior Domestic Winter 2021 season
ALL players, team managers and coaches must go into Play HQ and nominate to participate in the upcoming Winter 2021 season which is now available for selection.
Click the landing page link HERE (for Junior competition only at this stage) and this will take you directly into Rupertswood Basketball Club Winter 2021 season. Click Get Started and follow the prompts. If you have an active licence, you won’t be asked to pay again so it will check you out at zero dollars but if you don’t have an active licence, you will be asked to pay the $25 fee (for players only – coaches and team managers are free) as part of the checkout process.
Only after you have completed this process of nominating to play in this season will the Club be able to allocate you to a team.
If you don’t come in via this landing page link above, just search for Rupertswood via the Search feature and you will see a list of any active season to select from under the Club details.
(3) Covid Infection Control Training
As mentioned in a previous post, it will now be mandatory for each Club to provide a Bio Security Officer at each venue while games are being played throughout the season. We believe it doesn’t have to be the same person at each venue all day so we will be asking for volunteers to help out on a rotational basis to assist with adherence to Covid19 regulations during games at every venue. It will be as simple as ensuring hand sanitiser is used, masks are worn and surfaces are wiped down, etc.
As there will be restrictions on children only being allowed to have 1 person accompany them into a venue, helping with the BSO task will guarantee that you can enter and watch the game!
All you need to do is complete a short 15 minute free online course and you will receive a Certificate of Acknowledgement that you are Covid19 trained.
Click on THIS LINK and Register. Then the course is right at the bottom of the list
More hands will make lighter work and we won’t have to rely on just the Committee, Coaches and Team Managers to cover this role.
If you do complete this course, please email your Certificate of Achievement to the Committee at rupertswoodbasketballclub@gmail.com.
If you have any queries at all, please don’t hesitate to contact us at rupertswoodbasketballclub.org.au or rupertswoodbasketballclub@gmail.com
