2019 Pre-Registration
Important News: Pre-Registration days to hold spots for the coming Summer 2019/20 basketball season.
Dear parents and members,
As you may or may not be aware, the basketball club needs to start preparing the sides for next season very soon. As you can appreciate is a mentally taxing task to make sure players are placed in correct sides for their development, especially with the summer season being a grading season and also having players going up an age group this season.
Over past seasons, it has become an ominous task chasing fees for which are normally due by Round 3 for each season. We also need a commitment from players for the upcoming season.
As in the past, we will hold a Pre-Registration Night before the end of this season with which you will be required to pay a minimum $70 per child, towards the following season’s fees to hold a spot in the forthcoming season, otherwise no spot will be held for your child.
Registration nights for next season will be held next week at training sessions beginning on
– Monday 5th August 5.45pm – 7pm
– and Wednesday 7th August, from 5.00pm – 6.30pm.
We will have an EFTPOS machine available (but there will be a small charge for card use), and we take cash too.
If you cannot attend these nights, please feel free to deposit into our bank (details below) stating current team and surname
(eg: GU14 Rupo3 SMITH)
Or you can put $70 in an envelope with your current team and surname, and pass onto any of our committee members (David Mott, Julie McSwiggan, Tanya Hennessy, or Neale Fleming).
Bank Account Details:
Bank Name: BENDIGO BANK LIMITED
Account Name: Rupertswood Basketball Club Inc.
BSB/Account No: 633-000/122175672
We will also have a form for you to fill out to update details, etc. It will be out soon.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact David Mott (President), Tanya Hennessy (Treasurer), Neale Fleming (Junior Delegate) or myself (Secretary).
Kind Regards,
Julie McSwiggan, Secretary

Think before you act!
Things to be aware of as a parent/supporter that you may not already know about….
It will come as no surprise to anyone that inappropriate behaviour from parents regularly mar children’s sport. Our club unfortunately are not exempt from such issues. It is an embarrassment to our club and its members to be associated with poor behaviour.
Codes of Conduct issued by Basketball Victoria (BV) apply to every player, parent, spectator and official. BV empowers the SBA to expel and/or exclude anybody from attending stadiums or competing on court who transgresses conduct codes. Long suspensions/bans are common.
Government legislation is in place to protect children involved in sporting and social activities. Serious legal consequences can apply where inappropriate behaviours around children occur. You all may be very surprised as to what is deemed to be inappropriate. Our tip is that any interaction should be avoided.
What does this mean for parents/adults attending sporting events?
In junior basketball-related activity it means the following;
1. No parent is permitted to have any interaction before, during or after a match with any player, coach or official (other than their own child).
2. There is an exclusion zone around team benches and scorebenches whereby adults must observe a reasonable distance so as to not have any detrimental verbal or physical impact on players, officials, or the on court activity.
No parent or adult is permitted to physically approach benches. If a parent has an urgent need to attend to their child’s needs they must call the child (player) away from the exclusion zone.
Complaints
Any complaints need to be directed to the club committee who will deal with it in an appropriate manner.
Any verbal complaints, negative comments or abuse need to be kept to yourself. Please use common sense and talk to someone only as you would want someone to talk to you.
Consequences
Our club will not tolerate poor behaviour from anybody, regardless of circumstance.
Our club will escalate official action to deal with unsavoury incidents and will fully support the harshest possible penalties that can be applied by the SBA.
So please THINK BEFORE YOU ACT !!
Support our kids, support our game, support the future of basketball
FUNDRAISING CHOCOLATES

Just a reminder that we are conducting this fundraiser to keep our season fees at an affordable price, so take them to work, school, friends and family and get them to help out!
Reminder that $60 per box is due to be returned to the Club by May 22nd and more boxes are available if you need to sell more!
The family that sells the most will win a $100 Coles Myer gift card.
